Pastel and graphic works of Jiří Wiesner open doors to realms of unexpected adventures and surprises. Wiesner, an experienced teacher and artist, who has been leading the fine arts at the Kroměříž public school of arts for 24 years, invites us to a space between the concrete and the abstract, presenting a cross-section of his diverse work – from realistic nature and urban themes to highly abstracted art. His works are known and valued for their depth, precision, and their ability to draw the viewer into the world of imagination. His medium of choice is soft pastel, in which he focuses mostly on nature sceneries, but also on compositions that refer to reality indirectly. Unusual views of the well-known nooks and corners of Kroměříž are captured by the mezzotint technique, which allows him to convey the atmosphere of dusk and evening scenes. Jiří Wiesner is a member of the Association of fine art patrons of the Kroměříž region(Sdružení přátel výtvarného umění Kroměřížska, SPVUK). For his graphic works exhibited at the biennale in Rokycany he was awarded the third place; in 2018 and 2020 he exhibited at Graphic work of the year (Grafika roku) in Prague.
