Regional documentation

The sub-collection of regional documentation has been systematically developed since the 1970s and is based on materials acquired during the constitution of the museum in the 1930s, from donations, inheritances, and continuous rescue collecting projects. The core consists of separate units pertaining to leading segments of the cultural, social, and political life of the town and the region, e.g. the personal inheritance of composer Emil Axman, physicist and astronomer František Nábělek, artists Antonín Marek Machourek, J. V. Kraus, Vladimír Škranec, or the famous painter and graphic artist Max Švabinský. Another part of this sub-collection comprises materials documenting the activities of the local civic societies, e.g. the Moravan singing society, Sokol Kroměříž gymnastics association, Amateur theatre association, Friends of fine arts club, and other Kroměříž societies. There are also literary and personal inheritances of authors of mainly regional importance, e.g. the poet Maria Glabazňová, literary scientist Ludvík Páleníček, homeland researcher and author of the most concise histories of Kroměříž, František Vácslav Peřinka, or the literary historian Bedřich Slavík. One of the largest parts of the collection is the personal fund of the author and bibliophile, homeland and cultural education worker Jindřich Spáčil. The sub-collection contains also a large fund of posters and small prints.
