Zoological collection

The zoological sub-collection of was established in the 1970s by Jan Coufalík, a respected name in nature preservation in the Kroměříž area, former director and naturalist of the Kroměříž District Museum. The core collection consists mainly of taxidermied birds and mammals, with special focus on wading birds, including a small collection of their eggs. The collection was extended in the 1980s by an acquisition of skeletal preparations (skulls and skeletons) from Dr. Jiří Novák, veterinarian from Kroměříž. Some of the large items include an interesting taxidermy of the common wolf (Canis lupus) shot in Přílepy near Kroměříž in 1985.
