Sculptor Ondřej Oliva (* 1982) creates visually attractive objects in shapes that are easy to comprehend even for the common viewer. The majority of the themes of his work are based on everyday life and objects. Everyone can place them within their own scale and experience. Ondřej was influenced by his father, academic sculptor Otmar Oliva, but his sculptures embody completely different topics and themes and are made using different means and techniques. Ondřej Oliva was significantly influenced also by Jaroslav Róna, head of the sculpture studio at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts, particularly in his way of seeing the world and in his remarkable industriousness. His effort pays off – he reached success right after the school, his graduation project was purchased by the National Gallery in Prague, and in 2015 he exhibited at the famous MAXXI museum in Rome. Currently he is working on a memorial of Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno for Kroměříž.
