14 March – 13 April 2025, Gallery in the arcades
Unique glass artworks combining children’s imagination and masterful skill will be presented at the Planet Glass exhibition. In June 2024 the second year of Youth Glass Symposium YGS 2024 took place at the oldest glassmaking school in the world in Kamenický Šenov in the so-called Crystal Valley, and at Jiří Pačinek’s glassworks in Kunratice by Cvikov. Czech pupils from public art schools from all fourteen regions of the Czech Republic met there with their peers from the Weisswasser region of Germany. The participants were selected through an art contest, after which the young people had become real artists. They could use the help of professional glassmakers in the making of their art object, working side by side at the hot furnace. The collection inspired by the Planet Glass theme now travels around Czechia and the border regions of Germany to present works that were designed by the children. Professor Liběna Rochová, winner of the Czech Grand Design award, was the ambassadress of the symposium. The event is held under the auspices of the Eva Pavlová, the First Lady of the Czech Republic.
