The vestibule of the conference room is decorated with eight pastels with tree motifs by a leading contemporary artist Josef Ruszelák (born in 1938 in Nětčice near Zdounky), who donated them to the museum. The petite exhibition opens with two drawings with light titled Good morning and Good night.
Trees are so far the biggest theme in the work of this artist. They are associated with a difficult moment in his life after which he walked out of his studio and went to the woods to seek peace of mind. The result is a series of pastels from 1982-1988 demonstrating that even trees can become man’s best friends.
The exhibited works include the Couple in a tree alley, From the White trunks cycle I, From the White trunks cycle II, Silence in the woods below Vysoká, Birds in treetops, Sun above a spring II, Larch canopy, and Cathedral I.
The exhibition is off the main visitor circuit. Please ask at the museum reception, the guides will let you view it.
